  • Monthly Meeting & Training: Traffic Handling

    There will be a Q&A session and informal gathering for new members from 18:15 to 19:00. The main meeting will run from 19:00 to 21:00.

    After general business and a brief review of traffic handling techniques, we will break into small groups to practice sending, copying, and logging ICS 213 and NTS Radiogram messages.

  • PRRO Certification Workshop: Test Session

    This workshop session is intended for MCARES members who are already proficient with Winlink, and wish to obtain their Packet RMS Radio Operator (PRRO) certificate. This session is for testing only; other PRRO certification workshops will include a classroom/instructional component.

    Registration is required, and is limited to active MCARES members who hold an ARRO certification. E-mail KE7QPV [at] arrl [dot] net to register.

    This is the first half of a two-part workshop for the ARES/RACES Radio Operator (ARRO) certification. It will include a MCARES orientation, followed by instruction on radio programming and use, and go-kit set up.   • HF-101 Class

    Saturday, 20 May 2017 @ 10:00 - 16:00

    HF-101 is designed for the newly licensed General class operator or the Technician operator studying for their upgrade. It's an in depth, hands-on opportunity to make sense of all the new aspects of operating the HF bands, including propagation and space weather, radio operation, and much more. At the end of the day, you will have been bitten by the HF bug!

    The class is planned to last six hours, but may run later based on HF propagation conditions and student interest. Space is limited. Contact Robert, WX5TEX, at robert6594j [at] gmail [dot] com to register.

    SEA-PAC is the annual ARRL Northwestern Division Convention — the largest ham radio convention in the Northwest. SEA-PAC hosts workshops, seminars, commercial exhibits, a flea market, and more. Pre-registration and additional details can be found at seapac.org

    N7MCU — the Multnomah County ARES Mobile Communications Unit — will be making an appearance at SEA-PAC again this year, and we are planning another AREDN/BBHN HSMM networking demonstration.
