Multnomah County ARES/RACES Digital Modes Training Net

MCARES hosts a monthly digital modes training net so that ARES members and other interested radio operators can practice transferring digital data on UHF. We’re primarily interested in image transfer via SSTV and text transfer with FLDigi and the MT63-2000 mode.

The net is structured as a voice net in which stations check in with net control, and then take turns transmitting digitally while the other stations receive. The primary goal is learning and practice, so feel free to join in even if you’ve never transmitted digital data before!

The net meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 20:00. The repeater is on 440.400 MHz (123.0 Hz tone), and is located on the KOIN Tower in downtown Portland. Please limit digital transmissions to 120 seconds so as not to overheat it.
